We introduced it to you three years ago, but it’s worth a review.

As on the carbon fiber frames, Specialized continues to offer the unique two-color paint scheme with a clear break between colors on the downtube and a gradual fade in the seat tube/sidearm area.

The big news is of course the fact that the ingenious SWAT storage in the down tube, where you can store tools, a jacket or food, is now also available for the Alloy model.

Compared to the Expert trim with carbon fiber frame, this Elite trim sees Fox Factory suspension with Kashima coating, instead of the Performance suspension. Specifically, a 36 with Grip2 hydraulics and mudguard included.

At the rear there is the new Float-X shock with Rx tune, compression and rebound adjustment and a lockout lever. Also note the plastic cover that fills the hollow section of the asymmetric “Sidearm” structure.

With this latest version of the Specialized Stumpjumper EVO, for both frame materials, the up/down geometry adjustment is found on the Horst axle. 3 minutes and a 5mm Allen key allow you to swap between the two settings.

A full SRAM GX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain is fitted. Great value and very high performance with a slight weight penalty.

The bike also sees a 50mm Deity Copperhead stem. I love its low height as it allows for a wide range of height adjustment.

Specialized has also wisely chosen to include a full coverage MRP chain guide as this bike is aimed at those looking for a bike that can take a beating and abuse.

Last, but certainly not least, Specialized chose a straight head tube and designed a new version of the adjustable headset specifically for this alloy frame. Shown above is the upper cup at zero degrees.
