Although public attention is currently catalysed by JudasKen Levine’s new project often referred to as a sort of BioShock spiritualethere is yet another official chapter in the saga that continues to move in the shadows. BioShock 4currently in development at Cloud Chamber2K’s internal studio, could in fact bring back one of the most iconic elements of the entire series: theADAM.

According to a new report shared by MP1stthe fourth numbered chapter of the saga would be taking a direction much closer to the first two BioShocks rather than BioShock Infiniteboth in tone and imagery. A return to the origins which seems to also be reflected in the gameplay choices and in the construction of the game world.

The rumors speak of a main setting with flavor Antarcticbut divided into several distinct areas. Among these, a huge one would stand out casinodesigned as a central set-piece, and a second location known as Solaria. A fragmented but coherent world, which recalls the narrative and environmental approach typical of the series.

On the character front, equally interesting details emerge. The so-called are mentioned Flusherswho could represent the equivalent of the famous Splicers. But the real element capable of rekindling the enthusiasm of the fans is the possible return ofADAMor at least of a very similar substance. In the first BioShocks, ADAM was not just a playful resource, but a thematic and narrative pillar, capable of profoundly influencing the player’s choices.

Even the antagonist seems already outlined: an austere man, depicted as a golden statue holding a sphere, destined to embody the ideological fulcrum of the conflict. The protagonist, however, would be a man in a gray suit, red tie and blond hair, according to the leaked concept art.

However, the shadow of a troubled development remains, marked by internal revisions and the arrival of Rod Fergusson to put the project back on the right tracks. After years of silence and rumors, BioShock 4 remains a suspended promise, with the weight of a huge legacy and the wait increasingly difficult to sustain.
