Maserati, the MCPura and the updated electric Grecale arrive
The Modena-based company continues following the inspirations of offering powerful petrol models and continuing on the electric path. Mazda, an all-SUV vintage
One model has an electrified combustion engine, the other an electric powertrain. These are the hearts of the two new SUVs that Mazda is launching in 2026. The first to arrive is the third generation of the CX-5, it is larger than the previous one and debuts with a 48V mild hybrid which, later, will be joined by the first full hybrid developed by the Japanese company. Instead, the second which at the moment we can only define as the second model that Mazda offers in Europe from the collaboration with Changan (perhaps it will be called CX-6e) is a 100% electric SUV.
Mercedes, three new electric cars but hybridization continues
The new MB.EA platform, which is multi-energy, supports the development of the new generation of electric Mercedes. In fact, after the new GLC SUV series comes the GLB series, also with a seven-seater cabin and, within the year, also the new generation of the C class both sedan and station wagon. Also on the launch pad are the mild hybrid versions of the CLA berlian and Shooting Brake and, perhaps already this year, the G-class Cabrio.
MG, the electric 4 changes everything
Already presented in China with the City specification, the new generation of the MG4 electric vehicle will arrive in Europe which, in these parts, could be called Urban. It’s new from top to bottom but will always fit in among mid-size sedans and, like the Chinese one, should be offered with a 163 horsepower powertrain.
Nissan, the new electric Leaf and Juke arrive after the Micra
The Renault Nissan Alliance brand insists on electric cars. Omoda, it is the year of the compact 4 full hybrid SUV
The Chinese Chery brand, brother of Jaecoo and related to Lepas, will add two more new SUVs to the new engine offerings of the models it already sells. A compact one which was initially supposed to be called 3 but then became Omoda 4 which will initially be offered with a full hybrid powertrain and the larger Omoda 7. Porsche launches the electric Cayenne but re-evaluates the hybrid
Second electric SUV, the new Cayenne has an outfit that follows the previous one while integrating the stylistic features of the brand’s current design, it is powered by a powertrain with outputs of up to 1,156 horsepower but does not mark the disappearance of the Cayenne with combustion engines. This is also because Porsche is considering continuing the expansion of electrified petrol engines both with the new generations of the 718 Boxster and Cayman initially expected to be battery-only, and by proposing variants of this kind to complement the electric ones of the Macan. On the other hand, it is predictable as suggested by the new Turbo S which offers the evolution of the t-Hybrid hybrid system which debuted with other 911s.

For the French company the year begins with the marketing of the sixth series of the Clio which also offers a new highly efficient full-hybrid and an unprecedented bi-fuel LPG engine and the 21st century and electric-only interpretation of the Twingo. The inevitable aesthetic and technological update of the Mégane E-Tech electric range will also arrive in 2026.
Seat, Ibiza and Arona change outfits while waiting for the hybrid
From a certain point of view, the update of the Spanish compact sedan and SUV casts doubt on whether this brand is destined to take on a role in the short-term, mainly, in the sector of individual electric mobility. The two models present themselves with lines refreshed by modern stylistic features, more refined and more digitalized interiors and over time they will also offer mild hybrid variants alongside the pure thermal ones.

Smart, #2 arrives, the awaited heir to the little ForTwo
Not so surprising because the line up of the Smart barn born from the Sino-German collaboration between Mercedes and Geely is not very successful especially due to the growth in size, power and prices of its models, the brand is retracing its steps and as often anticipated by motori24 is developing the small electric car #2 for launch at the end of the year, i.e. the re-edition of the highly appreciated ForTwo. The Japanese brand in the world Bev with the electric and Vitara, if we want also with a timing that is not exactly perfect especially considering the recent European decisions, marketed here in the integral version and with a powertrain with 184 horsepower. An electric city car derived from the e-Sky concept could also arrive in Europe at the end of the year. Meanwhile, it updates the rest of the range with light aesthetic restyling, technological enhancements and upgrades. Volvo places the EX60 SUV among the electric ones and the XC70 among the hybrids
A brand that has remodeled, after many peremptory proclamations, the date on which it will say goodbye to internal combustion engines, Volvo is playing on two tables. In fact, it confirms the new strategy by extending the line of plug-in hybrids with the XC70 SUV, but also continues decisively on the expansion of the electric line with the ES90 sedan and the EX60 SUV, which should not decree the retirement of the XC60 with electrified internal combustion engines, especially now that Europe has revised the automotive green deal.
