If we also include sport in the ranking, we should consider three important events. Firstly, the excellent data recorded by the two matches of the men’s UEFA Nations League, which on Rai 1 attracted 8 million average viewers and a 37.2% share. This is followed, again on Rai 1, by the 8 qualifying matches for the 2026 men’s football world cup (6.7 million, 34.3% share) and on Canale 5 by the 8 Coppa Italia matches (4.6 million, 23.3% share). 2025 was also the year of the definitive arrival at Total Audience Auditel, therefore the linear audience data are now only part of the story (the most substantial). With 3 hours and 17 minutes of daily consumption, traditional television remains the center of the national media system
