MotoGP, Uccio Salucci: “A Ducati GP25 and a GP24 for us and we want to keep Diggia”

Our Sports Bar often reserves us some unexpected surprises, something that we could define as the beauty of live broadcast. Yesterday evening the good Carletto Pernat connected with us directly from Groningen airport before embarking to return to Italy and Uccio Salucci was in his area at the same gate. Skillfully intercepted, Uccio did not hold back and was also kind enough to entrust us with some gems regarding the future of VR46 with Ducati and with Fabio Di Giannantonio, who is experiencing a high-level 2024.

There are also important scenarios for the team that have opened up after the confirmation of Pramac’s move to Yamaha from 2025, given that Ducati will have to decide how to manage the other two Factory bikes to be entrusted to one or more satellite teams. From this point of view too, Uccio offered us a clarification on the current scenario which will probably see VR46 and Gresini Racing split the two available GP25s.

What can you tell us about Di Giannantonio, everyone wants him.
“Damn, last year nobody wanted him, now everyone wants him! He’s really fast, it’s great to work with him and he’s growing a lot, so it’s normal that everyone wants him. But we hope to be able to keep it ourselves. It would be a shame if he left, he is a fast rider and still very young. You will see that we will do something.”

Do you have any news on the Ducatis you will have in 2025?
“We talked about it right here in Assen a few hours ago. Basically in my opinion we will have a Ducati Factory 2025 and another which will be the last 2024. Then maybe we will work, we will talk to have two GP25s. But at the moment things are like this. Then, a Ducati GP24, managed within a Factory Supported team, I would define it as good. We are talking about the bike that Pecco will use in Valencia, a competitive bike”.

They seem like great weapons to convince Diggia to stay.
“Last year we believed in Di Giannantonio, we took him and then it’s not true that he was the piano b of Aldeguer. In the end we wanted to take him because he is Italian and fast and we also have an option on him that expires after Silverstone. I don’t want to get to the point where we have an option, but when you sign the contract you also have to think that there are some things written if you sign it. But going beyond this, he is happy with us, with the team and then he has the fastest bike in the world and I don’t see any big obstacles to staying with us”.

When will there be official announcements?
“Let’s say we’re leaving soon and then we’ll give you some certain news!”
