Assen – He is cultured, curious, sensitive: Franco Morbidelli is an atypical rider from many points of view. I admit: when I interview him I’m a little shy, I’d really like to make a good impression, to try to put together a few questions that might intrigue him.

Franco, in reality, is someone who puts you at easemy awe is hardly justified, because it is easy to engage in an open discussion with him. Obviously, we talk a lot about motorcycles: of 2020 (“There is some regret for not having lost the world championship by a handful of points”); of the difficulties encountered subsequently (“It took me too long to adapt to the new bikeit’s a limitation of mine”); to the injuries that have partly affected his career (“In 2015, in 2021 and the one in February 2024”); of the Ducati (“It’s a rider-friendly motorcycle”); why little is said about Franco Morbidelli’s future (“It doesn’t bother me, everything is based on results”); of the podium approaching (“I’ve been really close in the last two races”). But, above all, we talk about how the mentality changes between having “victory as the objective, or limiting the gap from the first” and the relationship with those who are at his side: in his description with his friend “Manu”, always at his alongside him for 10 years, after his father’s death, Morbidelli confirms all his human qualities.

All Morbidelli in the 169th episode of #atuttogas, online on Moto.it and on audio platforms starting at 9.00 on Sunday 30 June.

See you next week for a new episode of #atuttogas.
