The top of the Ducati range corresponds to the Panigale name. From today it is an attainable dream for many centaurs.
The first series of the Ducati Panigale was presented at EICMA 2011. It was launched the following year in various engine capacities. The name comes from the Bologna district Borgo Panigale, where the factory is located. For the brand purchased by Audi and part of the VW Group it represented a milestone, becoming the best performing motorcycle ever produced.
In 2014 the Panigale won the XXIII ADI Compasso D’Oro award. In 2016, the fourth variant of the well-known Superquadro made its debut, Euro 4 approved. It is a more powerful version of the 899 engine, pushed to 955 cm³ thanks to a stroke lengthened to 60.8 mm, maintaining the 100 mm bore. All Panigale models, with the exception of the two Superleggera, boast a monocoque frame in cast aluminum alloy, which represented a revolution for the Emilian brand. All Ducati motorcycles have always been characterized by a classic tube trellis frame. However, the concept of the supporting engine, characteristic of the top models, has remained unchanged. Furthermore, in the case of the 959, a new crankshaft was inaugurated, with connecting rods and pistons. Unlike the 899 two injectors per cylinder were used. To comply with Euro 4 regulations, the 959 boasts an exhaust system with a double lateral terminal, unlike the version intended for the American market with traditional exhausts integrated into the fairing.
