Cobolli surpasses Hussey and flies to the quarter-finals in Eastbourne

Flavio Cobolli continues his adventure on the grass of Eastbourne, overcoming the British Giles Hussey in the round of 16 of the ATP 250 tournament. The Italian, number 49 in the world ranking, won with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6 -4 in just under two hours of play.

The match started uphill for Cobolli, with Hussey (n.359 ATP) surprising the Italian in the first set, breaking his serve in the last two rounds of service and effectively varying his game between serve and net.

The turning point came in the second set, when Cobolli found the right countermeasures in response, gradually entering the rhythm of the match and forcing his opponent into errors. The Italian has also improved his game at the net, a key element on this surface.

In the decisive set, the games followed one another quickly, with the only break point converted by Cobolli in the fifth game which proved decisive for the final outcome of the match.

This victory projects Cobolli to the quarter-finals, where he will face another Briton, Billy Harris (n.139 ATP), in what will be their first career meeting.

Cobolli’s performance at Eastbourne demonstrates his growing adaptability to grass, a difficult surface for many players, and represents excellent preparation ahead of Wimbledon. The Italian seems to have found the right confidence and the right approach to face the challenges that await him on English lawns.
