There Jayco AlUla the opening team time trial wins Okolo Slovenska, the Tour of Slovakia. In the 28.8 km race with start and finish in Dunajska Streda, the Australian team preceded Soudal Quick Step while the Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team finished in third place. The first leader of the race is the German Max Walscheid.
Walscheid explained immediately after the award ceremony: “We are super happy. It was a great effort from the whole team, from every staff member to every rider. We pedaled super smoothly and I think we all gave our all. It was a flat course with some technical sections but we managed to find the ideal rhythm and rode well in the corners. Personally, I felt super strong, I was able to help the team win today. Of course, I’m really happy to represent our team with the leader’s jersey. It’s a fantastic day. This was the first step for us in the race and we hope to keep this jersey within our team for the rest of the week. We have four guys who are capable of doing a great general classification here and personally I will look at the third stage, which should end in a sprint.”
