We’re here now. All that’s missing is Primoz Roglic’s Bora Hansgrohe and we will have the definitive startlist of the Tour de France 2024. The former Italian time trial champion will certainly be in the Bora Matteo Sobrerothus forming a patrol of 8 Italians until next time Big Boucle which will start right fromItaly, with the Florence-Rimini fraction. It’s a bit of a shame that there are so few of them, but unfortunately – in recent years – we have reached the minimum number of presences in the Grand Tours other than the Giro d’Italia. Despite everything, this Tour will not have the lowest number of Italians: the record is 6 Italian riders at the 1983 Tour. That is, the Italians brought by Metauro Mobili-Pinarello who also won three stages in that edition, one with us Riccardo Magrini (the hamlet of Île d’Oléron). Last year we had 7, so it’s already good to bring 8. However, the absences of Lorenzo Rota in the Intermarché Wanty and of Jacopo Guarnieri in the Dstny Lot. Not that there couldn’t be other Italians, but both Rota and Guarnieri expected a summons for what had been done in these farms.
