ALTAVILLA VICENTINA – Gratitude for solidarity, annoyance for excesses. Once the first moment of shock for the robbery during Italy-Spain has passed, with the investigations which today will also include the Parma Ris carabinieri, Roberto Baggio’s family reacts to the media exposure of these difficult days: his wife Andreina thanks the governor Luca Zaia, his children Valentina and Mattia share the irritation of the deputy mayor Silvia Burò for the interviews given by the former mayor Carlo Dalla Pozza. After many years of tranquility and discretion, despite the presence of the champion among its 12,000 inhabitants, almost all of Altavilla Vicentina suddenly discovers its vulnerability to the offense of delinquency and the virality of the news.

Roberto Baggio, privacy violated

But you know, these are social times. After all, Baggio themselves choose Instagram to communicate the conflicting feelings that have shaken them since Thursday evening. Andreina said she was “grateful”, that is, grateful, to President Zaia who had expressed to the family “the closeness of all the Venetians, in the hope that the bandits will soon be brought to justice”. Valentina and Mattia instead relaunched in their “stories” the post with which Burò, who is also the Councilor for Security, attacked Dalla Pozza head-on: «In such a delicate moment as the one we are experiencing following the terrible robbery in the house of our fellow citizen Roberto Baggio, it is important to show support and respect for those who have been affected. Unfortunately, some people, including the former Mayor Carlo Dalla Pozza, prefer to seek personal visibility, through the media, by staying outside the Baggio residence, violating privacy and disturbing the serenity of our fellow citizen and his family.” Two attached photos, taken from inside the estate, show the former mayor in front of the cameras, beyond the grating which had most likely been climbed over by the criminals to enter the property, perhaps after an inspection which could be linked to the suspicious presences reported by Dalla Pozza himself and his cousin to the police some before the robbery.

The investigations

There is a certain tension surrounding the matter due to recent administrative disputes. Six months ago Dalla Pozza resigned, after a crisis in the majority which included the current councilor Burò and also the new mayor Rossella Zatton, who yesterday wrote an open letter to fellow citizens: «First of all, I would like to assure you that I am continuously contact with the local police and with all law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation. We are working closely together to ensure that every aspect of the situation is treated with the utmost seriousness and urgency. The police are doing a commendable job, operating with competence, dedication and a great sense of duty. I can say with absolute conviction that the safety and well-being of our citizens is our priority. We are putting in place all necessary measures to address the situation as quickly and effectively as possible. I ask you to continue to trust the competent authorities, who are working tirelessly to solve this case.” Beyond the political grievances, however, it is clear that the Baggios do not like the media coverage of the residence, especially in view of the inspection that will be carried out by the Scientific Investigations Department, which will thus work alongside the Vicenza Provincial Investigation Unit and the Group special operative of Rome.

New findings are therefore expected, useful for following the traces of the gang who escaped with money, watches, jewels, credit cards and cell phones, but not memorabilia that is difficult to spend on the market. The open cases are for robbery and kidnapping, but also injuries due to injuries to the “Divine pigtail”. Bitterness was expressed by Giancarlo Antognoni, Fiorentina number 10 just before Baggio: «Unfortunately we live in a somewhat particular world, so I felt very sorry for Roberto».
