HALLE (Germany) – Jannik Sinner signs his 4th success of the season (14th in his career) by winning the ATP 500 tournament in Halle, his first career triumph on grass for the Italian tennis player who goes 37-3 this season becoming the 8th player in history to win a tournament after becoming world number 1. Sinner defeated in the final Hubert Hurkacz (number 7 in the world) with the score of 7-6(8), 7-6(2) after an hour and 49 minutes in a match where Sinner showed great solidity in his serves (only one break point allowed) and great cynicism in the tie-breaks in forcing his opponent into errors and not giving him opportunities. Jannik’s words after the match: “Tough match, I knew I had to serve well. You get two important ones in the set and I tried to play well in those important moments. I served some good second serves in important moments that could have made the difference and maybe it was there. Wimbledon? I don’t see the bear, I will have more confidence on the grass, I will have a week to prepare“.

- 2-1 Hurkacz: The first break points arrive for Sinner at 30-40 after three excellent responses: the Pole, however, places three solid firsts and takes a 2-1 lead.

Sinner and Hurkacz have faced each other 4 times in their careers with the score of direct matches being 2-2. The last challenge between the two was won by Jannik at the 2023 edition of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, Sunday’s match will be the first match on grass between the two.
