A less than exceptional day for Ferrari in free practice Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. It is still difficult to make predictions, but without a shadow of a doubt more was expected from Carlos Sainz and in particular from Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque appeared to be in difficulty especially in the second and third sectors and complained to a team radio that he did not have a competitive car.
Here are his impressions at the end of this first day: “It was a very difficult FP1 for everyone, especially due to the conditions: it was very difficult to ride because we suffered from overheating. In the second one, however, we took the wrong path with the balance and among other things we also had to make a comparison with the new ones“.
Goes on: “In the end, however, we managed to find the feeling again, we put everything together, even if I think we still have a bit of pace to show off. Overall, it was a tough Friday, but I know where to find the time, so I’m not too worried“.
Indications on the step that are to be found: “We had a problem that shortened my long run, but I have a pretty clear idea of what we need to do on the car and I’m convinced that we’ll make a step forward tomorrow. In reality it wasn’t a real problem, it was a set-up change that took longer than expected. These are things that can happen every now and then“.
