The management of the Emilian company, through CEO Luca Baraldi, has in fact revealed that the first women’s team will no longer be there: “Painful, painful and thoughtful choice – Baraldi told TRC -, but which could prove successful. We will not participate in the Women’s A1 Series, a part of these resources will be oriented towards both the men’s and women’s youth sectors. We will also give a structure to the female youth sector.”

Founded in 2019, the women’s training had recorded important results by winning the Italian Super Cup in 2023-2024 and, previously, reaching the Scudetto final twice, as well as two participations in the Euroleague.

Also asked about the visions relating to the 2024-2025 season of the Virtus Bologna Maschile, Baraldi stated:Obtaining the wildcard in the Euroleague was an excellent achievement that was not to be taken for granted, and Valencia, which is an excellent club with a great indoor stadium, was not taken. The members’ meeting will be on Friday, there will be no problems and we are calm. The roster? An adequate budget to support a team that is at least as competitive as this year. We are evaluating some renewals, others already have contracts, we are studying new arrivals, Ronci and Banchi are working on it. Shengelia has a contract but there are exit options, we will look for an economic agreement to renew it.”
