The Italian Tennis and Padel Federation made the calls official in the last few hours, clarifying the ideas for the fans both with regards to the tennis players on whom it was decided to bet and on the combinations designed to ensure the National can also be competitive in doubles, as well as in singles.
Fighting to defend the blue colours, rewarded by the ranking and the results achieved so far, will be, on the men’s individual front, Jannik Sinner, Lorenzo Musetti, Luciano Darderi and Matteo Arnaldi. The women summoned are, however, what has now definitively exploded Jasmine Paolini, Lucia Bronzetti and Elisabetta Cocciaretto. A team full of talent and resources, therefore, which could cause great annoyance to the other competing teams and compete for much more than a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Sinner, the decision took everyone by surprise
A different discussion must be made, however, regarding the double. It will be ours Andrea Vavassori, who qualified by right after the excellent doubles results achieved in recent months. He will play alongside his partner Simone Bolelliand who knows, maybe the two will be able to repeat their success at Roland Garros and return home with a medal around their necks.
Surprise decision, however, on the front of the world number 1. Sinner will play doubles with his friend Lorenzo Musetti, whose performance at the Games will have a major impact on the continuation of this season, which has been a bit “opaque” for him up until now. Finally, completing the Italian squad will be Sara Errani, who paired with Jasmine will ensure that the people of local tennis can dream big. At this point, there remains only one reservation to be resolved, that relating, that is, to mixed doubles. The special observers are, in this sense, Vavassori and Errani, although the fans hope that in the end it will be decided to focus on the pair made up of Paolini and Sinner. This hypothesis is difficult to implement due to a question of joints and excessive commitments.
