Tour of Switzerland 2024, all withdrawals

It starts without any withdrawal on Tour of Switzerland 2024. All the riders registered, 168 in total, in the Swiss WorldTour race took part in the individual time trial that opened the program and all managed to complete it. The hope was that the situation would remain so also in the following days, but already before the start of the second stage, two abandonments were recorded: they were those of Kevin Colleoni (Intermarché-Wanty) and of Fausto Masnada (Soudal-QuickStep), who did not put their name on the matchday signature sheet.

The next day they don’t leave again Nairo Quintana (Movistar), who fell during the second stage, suffering a broken hand, as well as Emanuel Buchmann (Bora-hansgrohe), due to a double fracture of the clavicle and hip. It was the German who didn’t start the fourth stage Timo Kielich (Alpecin-Deceuninck), while the Dutch climber abandoned the race first before the start of the last climb Bauke Mollema (Lidl-Trek), who had not been well during the previous night, and the young Swiss Antoine Aebi (Swiss national team).

At the start of the fifth stage, three were missing. The falls of the previous day are indeed forcing Alberto Bettiol And Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost) to leave the race, as well as Jacopo Guarnieri (Lotto Dstny), while during the stage they leave Stan Van Tricht (Alpecin-Deceuninck), Fran Miholjevic (Bahrain Victorious), Lawson Craddock (Team Jayco AlUla), Jordi Warlop (Soudal-QuickStep) e Lilian Calmejane (Intermarché-Wanty). Three other men don’t show up at the start of the short sixth stage: it’s about Georg Steinhauser (EF Education-EasyPost), tired after the efforts of the Giro d’Italia, Pascal Eenkhoorn (Lotto Dstny), sick, and Sébastien Reichenbach (Tudor Pro Cycling Team).

There are two riders missing the start of the seventh stage, Samuele Battistella (Astana Qazaqstan), ill, e Yannis Voisard (Tudor Pro Cycling), and there are just as many riders who leave during construction, that is Ion Izagirre (Cofidis), victim of a bad fall that caused him severe bruises and numerous wounds, e Jake Stewart (Israel-Premier Tech).
