The Frenchman Mathys Rondel was the one who lit the fuse on the ramps of the final ascent, but then ran into difficulty when at the entrance to the last kilometer only Martì and Widar responded to Torres’ sprint. “This morning I didn’t feel very well at the start but I wanted to offer a great performance because today was the queen stage – said the pink jersey -. As the kilometers passed I felt better and better. It was difficult to keep the wheels on Mathys Rondel but I felt I had some margin. When Pablo Torres attacked I followed him and then started at 250 metres. It’s a great victory, in the pink jersey it has a special flavour.”
