Italy in the quarterfinals of the CEV Nations Cup

JURMALA (LATVIA)-The Italian women’s beach volleyball journey in the final phase of the CEV Nations Cup has started in the best possible way, a tournament which, as is known, offers the last European pass for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. With two victories continuedro Slovenia and Austria, Italy has in fact passed the group stage at the top of Pool B, thus qualifying for the quarter-finals.

The first match of the day saw Reka Orsi Toth and Giada Bianchi triumph 2-1 (21-11, 20-22, 15-7) against the Slovenians Javornik/Marolt M; Italian success also confirmed in the second outing by Claudia Scampoli and Margherita Bianchin against the Kotnik/Lovsin pair, easily overcome 2-0 (21-19, 21-14). In the evening, the Italian teams then achieved an important 2-0 aggregate win against Austria; the match opened with the success scored by Orsi Toth/Bianchi, victorious 2-0 (21-19, 21-15) against Schutzenhofer/Plesiutschnig, while in the last match of the day Scampoli/Bianchin won 2-0 by forfeit of the other Austrian couple made up of Dorina and Ronja Klinger, a team that had to stop due to physical problems. The four victories therefore allowed Italy to access the quarter-finals, where they will meet one of the national teams that ranked second in the other groups. The draw for the match that qualifies for access to the semi-finals will take place in the evening at the end of all the pool matches.
