Lotto Dstny, three runners from the academy promoted

Lotto Dstny announces three new riders for next season. In a difficult period for the team from an economic point of view, with the announced departure of the second sponsor which is creating problems with renewals, the Belgian professional team responds with the announcement of three promotions from the academy, as if to confirm its trust in the future and in a wide-ranging project which in recent years has already brought numerous runners to the top. Strengthening a team that believes a lot in its young talents will be Robin Orins (22), Joshua Giddings (20) and Lorenz Van de Wynkele (22), who have signed their first professional contract until 2026.

Winner of the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad U23, Orins also became Belgian time trial champion at the start of the season, establishing himself as one of the most interesting talents for the classics with third place in Paris-Roubaix and second in Liège-Bastogne-Liège. “I didn’t have to think long about staying with Lotto Dstny – comments I have been with the development team for two years and I feel at home. When I had a particularly difficult year last year, the team continued to believe in me and that meant a lot to me. I look forward to learning over the next two years.”

A very powerful runner, Giddins won the Bruxelles-Opwijk (youth version of Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne) this season, demonstrating his talent as a sprinter. “Being able to stay with Lotto Dstny for the next two years is a relief – he underlines – I feel welcome here and every time I can’t wait to leave with the team. What I have learned in these two years is invaluable. There is no better place than Lotto Dstny to continue growing. I am very grateful for this opportunity and I am ready to work hard.”

In his second year with the development team, Van de Wynkele has proven to be an excellent support for the sprinters’ train in this period, being able to also have his say in the first person, as he did by winning the first stage of the Tour du Loir et Cher. “I’m looking forward to growing further as a rider,” he says. “I hope to show my potential during a great spring and I’m very happy that this can happen at Lotto Dstny, the team I’ve always admired.”

Commenting on the arrival of his young talents is Stephane Heulot: “This is what we stand for. We have an exceptionally strong generation ready to turn professional and we are especially happy to still have Lorenz, Joshua and Robin with us for the next two years. At Lotto Dstny they will be able to continue to grow. We strongly believe in all three and in their possibilities to become excellent professional runners.”
