The 2024 Messina stage of the 2024 edition was presented at Palazzo Zanca “Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour – Futures”an international event co-organised and sponsored by the Administration, scheduled from 20 to 23 June in Piazza Duomo and the official qualifying stage for the Olympic Games of Paris 2024.
Beach volleyball returns to Piazza Duomo
The president of the Sicily Regional Committee of Fipav was present Antonio Locandrothe president of CT Fipav Messina Alexander Zurrothe general director of Team Volley Messina Carmel Syracusethe technical director of the Messina event Roberto Bombarathe president of Mediterranea Eventi Alfredo Financethe provincial commander of the Messina Fire Brigade Happy Iracà and representatives of the Italian Volleyball Federation.
The event organized by the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball and Volleyball World, after the success of the last edition, also returns for 2024 on the banks of the Strait and for its Messina stage, the only one in Sicily and among the three Italian ones, together with those of Cervia And Battipagliawas once again entrusted to the local promoter Messina Volleyball Teamwhich will carry it out in concert with the Municipality of Messina, Mediterranea Eventi, Triptop and the Fipav Territorial Committee of Messina.

“Our city is still the protagonist of very important sporting events which also allow social, economic and cultural growth with the promotion of Messina as an increasingly welcoming city, together with other partners – declares the mayor Federico Basile –. The presence of twenty-two nations in a qualifying stage for the next Olympics confirms the sporting and organizational growth of this event, highly appreciated in the beach volleyball scene, a prestigious showcase for our city”.
“After some initial controversy in last year’s edition, this event was metabolized by the city and achieved great success and broad consensus to the point that in this edition, which will take place at night, the numbers have tripled seats in the stands – explained councilor Massimo Finocchiaro –. Twenty-two nations will be represented until Japanto theArgentinato the Canada and to United States, but 70 teams had asked to register, demonstrating the great interest in the event. We thank Fipav who recognizes our organizational capacity in hosting such important events, which with the presence of approximately 1,200 people will have socio-economic repercussions on the territory”.

The competition program includes qualifications on Thursday 20 June from 9am to 9pm; Friday 21st other qualifiers from 10am to 9.30pm; Saturday 22 semi-finals from 9.30am to 8.30pm and on Sunday 23rd the day of finals from 10am to 5pm. 56 pairs at the starting line: 28 men’s and 28 women’s, divided into 12 main draw pairs and 16 qualifying pairs. After the high-impact experience of last summer, the appointment with top-level beach volleyball is renewed in Piazza Duomo with beachers from all over the world: ten Italian couples competing.
