It will be a Tour of Slovenia 2024 decidedly international, given that it will also pass between Austria, Croatia, Hungary and Italy. From Murska Sobota to Nove Mesto, five eventful stages for a race that can certainly be fun and which will be very uncertain. It runs from 12 to 16 June and there will be many Italian runners at the start, including the defending champion Filippo Zana who will be looking for an encore.
12 JUNE, FIRST STAGE: MURSKA SOBOTA – ORMOŽ (192.3 KM)
The international stage of the Tour of Slovenia 2024. It even enters four states, given that the route also includes passages in Austria, Hungary and Croatia. An undulating stage, with a decidedly eventful finish, but in which it should be a sprint, perhaps in small groups
JUNE 13, SECOND STAGE: ŽALEC – ROGAŠKA SLATINA (180.7 KM)
Probably the best opportunity for pure sprinters. The Celjska Koca GPM (7km at 6%) is halfway through the route and shouldn’t create too many problems, also because then there is space to recover and fight for the victory again in the sprint.
14 JUNE, THIRD STAGE: LJUBLJANA – NOVA GORICA (160.5 KM)
A lively fraction with many ups and downs. There will also be a passage through Italian territory before arriving in Nova Gorica. Pay attention to the last descent before the finish, because there may be attacks that can avoid a sprint.
JUNE 15, FOURTH STAGE: ŠKOFLJICA – KRVAVEC (147.2 KM)
Definitely the queen stage of the 2024 Tour of Slovenia and also the one that should decide the general classification. The strong point is definitely the last 11 kilometres, all uphill towards Krvavec, with an average gradient very close to 8%.
JUNE 16, FIFTH STAGE: ŠENTJERNEJ – NOVO MESTO (159.8 KM)
The last stage can still gather some surprises, especially if the gaps in the standings are very close. 160 kilometers that are decidedly undulating and can be the perfect hunting ground for those who love attacks from afar.
