Volleyball, A2 Women: Akademia drops tenth, the last blow is Giorgia Caforio

The Akademia Sant’Anna Messina drops the tithe and the last shot is called Giorgia Caforiolibero of Apulian origins who played the last two seasons in A2 at the Consolini Volleyball Of Saint John in Marignano.

The purchase of Caforio further raises the quality rate of roster from the Messina team, already highly competitive. Last year the libero recorded the best weighted average of the entire category in reception and, in Messina, she will meet Maria Adelaide Babatunde, her teammate in her first year at Consolini.

The numbers highlight the high caliber of the new player signed Giorgia Caforio he collected receptions in the last tournament; in 23 appearances and 82 sets played, for her an average of 6.07, 220 perfect shots and a percentage of 48.41%. Giorgia Caforio she was born in 1994, 168 cm tall, born in Toasts but grew up in Latian; comes into contact with volleyball played through the team of his city, la Volley Latiano. In 2010/2011, in addition to the Youth Championships, he made his debut in Serie C at Ostuni; she is just sixteen years old. The following year she finds herself in D Series to Toasts, a small parenthesis useful for his growth and to bring out his talent. At seventeen (in 2012/2013) the Volleyball San Vito calls her in Serie A2 and wears the training shirt Apulian on 28 occasions, with 90 sets played. In 2013/2014 he moved to B2 to Mesagneand then moved the following year to Volleyball Taranto, always in the same category. In the summer of 2015, Volley Soverato, an A2 club where she stayed for two full seasons (37 appearances and 88 sets played for her) plus the first part of the 2017 season, dragged her away from home for the first time. /2018, in which he completes the year with the Cuneo Granda Volley, always in the second series (37 appearances and 142 sets played). With the Piedmontese shirt, Giorgia Caforio ends the regular season in second place; to block her path to the promotion in A1he thinks about it Chieri76 Volleyball in the playoff semifinal. The “regional derby” leaves its mark, but for the libero from Puglia it is time to take a further step forward. It will be right Chieri to give her the long-awaited opportunity and the moment of her debut in the top flight arrives: it is October 28, 2018 and atMandela Forum” Of Florence, Georgie fulfills his dream in the first match of the tournament against Il Bisonte. At the end of the season he will have made 12 appearances and 31 sets played. In 2019/2020 there is the landing in Sardinia at the Volleyball Hermaea Olbia. The club, after relegation, was brought back to A2, also starting again from Giorgia Caforio (he made 21 appearances, with 79 sets). The team Sardinian ends the season with a tenth place in Pool Promotion. The free stops at Olbia another two years (with 46 appearances and 150 sets played), before looking for new stimuli elsewhere. The one who hired her in Romagna was Consolini Volleyball. He spent two seasons with the club Saint John in Marignano; in the first it reaches one playoff semifinalthen lost to Bresciawhile in the last one there are too many injuries affecting the team to hope to be able to go beyond an excellent placement in the Promotion Pool (for the Caforio 53 appearances and 192 sets played).

Giorgia Caforio it is pleasantly called “Caffy” and explains the meaning of weighted averagefrom which the best value of the came free receiving last season. “It is the resulting average between positive and negative shots, in the fundamentals of reception. A coefficient is used, which leads to a percentage based on which I was the first libero of the Championship. It takes everything into account, not just positivity. I am a perfectionist and there are still goals I want to achieve; I hope we can do it together with Messina. The passion for volleyball led me to overcome many difficulties; he always pushed me to work, go beyond my limits, while having fun at the same time. Looking back, I can say, in part, that I am proud of what I managed to do.”

There Caforio then talks about the first steps in volleyball and the various seasons on the field. “My mother no longer has patience because she keeps dirtying the walls with the ball. It’s an exercise that has always amused me. Then, for the role, they taught me that the wall will always be a life companion. I have experienced a lot over the years, met many coaches and ways of coaching. I believe that, if you are alone or do not have the opportunity to work, it is a good exercise to improve contact with the ball, leg thrust and arm position. For me it’s still a valid exercise, then it always depends on how you do every single thing. The experiences of Sovereign And Wedge they were different. Sovereign it represented a beautiful gateway to the world of professionalism. Wedge, instead, it was more of a revenge: wonderful memories of a challenging season, short but which I carry in my heart. After two seasons and part of the third I had the opportunity to leave Calabriato get in Piedmont. TO Sovereign things weren’t going as they should and I decided to take another path. TO Wedge I found myself in a reality, at that moment, very ambitious, completely different but one hundred percent professional and with a great team. TO Wedge I worked very well and was equally well received. I hope I left a good memory. Wedge it was the means to get to Chieri the next year. Luca Secchi, the coach who chose me, wanted me badly Sovereign The first year. I was super happy with this new reality, in my debut year in A1. There too I experienced the warmth of the fans and the whole environment. Even though I’m a libero, I also scored some points. I like to put the opponent in difficulty when, for example, a third touch needs to be sent to the other side. I made one of the best points in the year of Wedge against Chieri in the semi-final, a match as beautiful as it was difficult. A second touch from the opposing setter was bypassing me; Not being able to do anything else I tried to attack the falling ball and put it in the corner. Let’s say that a Chieri they reminded me of this for a while. Then I got to Olbia, I wanted to get back into the game as a protagonist. The three years in Sardinia they were completely different from each other and full of satisfaction. I found people who worked very well with me and an environment that made me feel important. We concluded the first year with access to the Promotion Pool, but then Covid arrived. In any case, they were useful years, to stop and feel good about myself. TO Saint John in Marignano with Consolini Volley, the first year was a good season. We reached the playoff semi-finals and almost didn’t make it to the final. Truly a great season, with the disappointment of our captain’s injury, Giulia Saguatti, who I had to replace in responsibility; I hope I did it well. The second year was a little more difficult, because we started the Championship straight away with two big injuries, which affected the season. Others were added later, including mine, and we always found ourselves chasing. Despite this, the team has always responded well, united, doing the best possible. At a certain point the issues came home to roost and the most deserving teams moved forward.”

Giorgia’s life partner plays football and this year he conquered Serie B with the Cesena shirt; it’s the attacker Roberto Ogunseye. “We share a passion for sport – he says Giorgia Caforio -. As I always say, his successes are partly mine too; when things go well, I’m happy for him and vice versa. Our sporting choices have always been quite relationship-free. Each of us must have our own career and, in my opinion, this is our strength.”

Now there Caforio he decided to go back down to the Southin Sicily, and declares in this regard: “A land that I partly know, more as an opponent during away matches. I imagine a very warm environment, with welcoming people. I know the South very well and I am happy to be able to discover everything else. I believe that ambition and the desire to return to the world played a role in my choice South. There is ambition on my part and on the part of the environment; then, let’s put on the sun and stay close to home, I’d say a nice package. It will be a challenging season, it will be a difficult Championship, however, with hard work and the support of the city and the fans, we will be able to gain great satisfaction. Beyond Messina, Macerata and Trento, for the final victory we must not underestimate San Giovanni and also Busto. I hope for a positive season. It will certainly be exciting and, for this reason, the arena will have to fill up as much as possible. In a season like the one that awaits us, we absolutely need the fans and the city. I know very well how sport is experienced South and together we can achieve great goals.”
