What is certain is that the day did not smile at all for Max Verstappen and Red Bull. The world champion in fact stopped in the pits with just over 20 minutes still to go, hampered by electrical problems with his RB20 (the energy recovery system was the component that broke down). A significant problem because the mechanics had to open the bonnet with difficulty and caution in order to intervene. Verstappen had changed the third power unit this morning and in the afternoon a problem that was not at all minor occurred. Since Verstappen didn’t shine on the track even in the first session, it’s reasonable to think that Saturday promises to be an uphill battle for the world champion. Tenth time for the other Red Bull of Sergio Perez.
