The domestic violence trial against German tennis player Alexander Zverev has been dropped thanks to an out-of-court settlement

A Berlin court announced on Friday that it had dismissed a trial against German tennis player Alexander Zverev, who had been accused of having had violent behavior against his ex-partner, Brenda Patea: the dismissal was decided following an out-of-court settlement between the two parties, the details of which were not disclosed.

The process began last week, while Zverev was already involved in the famous Roland Garros tournament, in which he is in the semifinals (he will play this afternoon against the Norwegian Casper Ruud).

Zverev is 27 years old and one of the best active tennis players: he had been accused of domestic violence against the model and influencer Patea, who had said that her ex-boyfriend had pushed her against a wall and had tightened his hands around her neck during an argument in May 2020. Patea said that she immediately told the story to some friends, but that she decided to report Zverev only three years later due to shame and embarrassment. Last October a Berlin court ordered the tennis player to pay a fine of 450 thousand euros for the violence reported by Patea. Zverev, who has always denied all charges, had appealed, and therefore the trial began.
