for Sainz everything vanished

These are days of announcements in Motorsport. After those of Marquez and Martin in MotoGP, a very important one has also arrived in Formula 1

Countdown almost over Formula 1 for the ninth GP of the season which will take place next Sunday in Canada, on one of the historic tracks of the World Championship, that of Montreal.

It will be the last non-European stop on the calendar before the long parenthesis that will end with the return to the USA scheduled for next autumn. Great anticipation for Ferrari who will show up in Canada on the strength of Leclerc’s victory in Monte Carlo and Carlos Sainz’s third place, a double result which has made it possible to close the gap in the Constructors’ World Championship by Red Bull less dominant than last season.

This latter aspect was also underlined by Verstappen himself – still firmly at the top of the drivers’ rankings – and by Helmut Marko. Red Bull who, in the last few hours, communicated an important decision, anticipated by an enigmatic message on social media. A Stay Tuned that kept fans in suspense until the moment of the announcement.

Formula 1, signed with Red Bull: everything vanished for Sainz

In the end, Sergio Perez he managed to obtain the coveted renewal with Red Bull. The Mexican driver extended the contract expiring at the end of the season for another two years, a condition that Checo strongly wanted, convincing the team that seemed adamant on the choice of an annual renewal.

Perez, therefore, will remain on Red Bull at least until 2026a crucial season for Formula 1 in which the long-awaited new regulation on power units will come into force which, who knows, could also overturn the current hierarchy on the grid.

The announcement of Perez’s renewal involves indirectly Carlos Sainz. For the Ferrari driver, still looking for a Scuderia for next season after the arrival of Hamilton, the opportunity to position himself in one of the most sought-after single-seaters disappears. Both Horner and Marko admitted contact with Sainz but, in the end, decided to opt for continuity with Perez.

With Mercedes seeming to want to immediately focus on Andrea Antonelli, there are only two chances left for Sainz: the Williams and Sauber/Audi. The English team would offer him a two-year contract and the prospect of driving a single-seater with a Mercedes power unit. Audi, however, would leave him for a year at Sauber (with Hulkenberg) before his F1 debut expected in 2025.

Williams, Sauber or possibly even Alpine (which must replace Ocon), the certainty is that Sainz’s immediate future in F1 will not be in a team that will fight to win the World Championship.
