Eleven triumphs, the last three consecutive: the most successful team in the world is hunting for a new success. They shoot tomorrow in Malta Final Four of the men’s water polo Champions League: the two semi-finals with the Pro Recco who challenges the Greeks ofOlympiacos.
The Recchelini led by Sandro Sukno they obviously start as favorites of the event: the status is given by various factors, the recent very clear victory of the scudetto is among them, as are the aforementioned three consecutive European successes in the last three years and obviously a squad of exceptional depth.
However, the Hellenics should absolutely not be underestimated: the two previous seasons were both the prerogative of the Italian team, but the two matches (in the preliminary round) were very hard fought and ended with measurable results. Obviously, the joke that came with the Greeks in the semi-finals in 2019 remains in our eyes, a precedent to keep in mind.
The stars of the Greek team are certainly the goalkeeper Marko Bijač, a former luxury player, star of the Croatian national team, as well as Luka Lončar, a midfielder who was in Liguria until last year. Then watch out for the usual Giannīs Fountoulīs and the Hungarian Márton Vámos.
