Education and sport is a combination that requires synergy. Today, more than ever, a strong alliance between sporting and educational institutions is essential to activate a positive contamination of universal and timeless values of sport.
Already last year (as 2022/2023), secondary school students were the protagonists in the two sports disciplines of volleyball and basketball in the Attiva Kids Junior project, prepared by expert federal technicians, which continued also in this year. school year.
The activities saw our students engaged in moments of training and play in the discipline of volleyball and basketball thanks to the “Junior Active School Project” with the aim of providing educational and technical support to teachers for the psychomotor improvement of the students, giving them the opportunity to learn about a team sport and be able to practice it following the advice of the federal coaches, Laura Pendenza (for volleyball) and Sandro Argentieri (for basketball) in curricular activities.
At the end of the course, the classes challenged and compared each other in 140 basketball games, enjoying a moment of celebration at the “Fernando Panico” Sports Hall last Monday.
The school director, Luisa Cascione, and the mayor of Galatina, Fabio Vergine, attended the Sports Festival, awarding the first place female team in the “Beach Volley School” tournament in Scanzano Jonico.
Because sport is not just a moment of play: if on the one hand it means setting goals and committing to achieving them with your own strength, on the other, when it involves other people, it allows you to work in a group by trusting your teammates.
And it is precisely for this reason that the Istituto Comprensivo Polo 1 of Galatina-Collemeto always dedicates so much attention to sport thanks to the educators, teachers and experts, key figures in ensuring that this happens through many activities, with participation in tenders and external projects and with the sports associations of our area, which are a real educational resource, capable of reproducing on a concrete level the reality of life which is made up of commitment but also satisfaction, joy, happiness, hope.
Polo 1 pursues these objectives (sports and human), and achieves them, in its full educational autonomy and in line with the rules governing the subject.
