Jorge Martin half smiles after finishing third in the Italian Grand Prixthe seventh round of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship. On the splendid backdrop of the Mugello track, the Ducati Pramac team rider fought tooth and nail to question Pecco Bagnaia’s leadership, but right at the last corner he suffered the overtaking by Enea Bastianini.
Francesco Bagnaia won ahead of Enea Bastianini at 799 thousandths, then Jorge Martin third at 924. Fourth position for Marc Marquez at 2.0, fifth for Pedro Acosta at 7.5, while Franco Morbidelli is sixth at 9.8. Fabio Di Giannantonio was seventh at 10.0, eighth was Maverick Vinales at 11.6, ninth was Alex Marquez at 13.5, while Brad Binder was tenth at 15.9.
At the end of the race on the Tuscan track, the Madrid native explained his feelings to the microphones of Sky Sport: “I’m disappointed with the last lap. In any case I have staged a great improvement. I kept pace with Bagnaia, who was setting a record every lap, and I also thought I could attack him. Then I saw that I was too close to the limit so I waited a bit. It’s a shame not to have closed on Bastianini in the final.”

The driver born in 1998 continues his story: “Before the race I would have signed for the podium but with how the race went I have a hint of regret. I believed it. From the dream of first to third to the finish line in a few seconds. Too bad, but today Pecco had more. Now head to Assen to continue on the path because I am convinced that I will soon win again.”
