MotoGP, Bagnaia and Bastianini celebrate the Republic with a memorable double at Mugello!

Francesco Bagnaia he completes the work and places his first double of the year, repeating the success of the Sprint and winning the 2024 Italian Grand Prix, valid as the seventh round of the MotoGP World Championship. Fourth victory of the season in the race (the 22nd of his career in the top class, the 32nd overall in the MotoGP) for Pecco, who therefore wins for the third time in a row at Mugello after the victories in 2022 and 2023.

Total triumph today on the Tuscan circuit for Italy (on Republic Day) and for Ducati, with the Italian double completed by Enea Bastianini (amazing in overtaking Marquez and then Martin at the last corner) and a poker signed by the Borgo Panigale company. In reality, there are as many as six Ducati riders in the top seven positions at the finish line, testifying to the clear technical superiority of the Reds at least at Mugello.

Bagnaia built much of his victory at the start, recovering four positions in the first two corners (his aggressive overtaking on Martin at Luco was splendid) and then leading the race until the checkered flag, managing the situation very well and never allowing the of an attack on Martinator. The Spaniard from Team Pramac tried in the closing stages, but went into crisis and suffered the return of a wild Bastianini.

At the foot of the podium in fourth place Marc Marquezwho still brings home important points in terms of the championship, while the Spanish rookie of KTM Pedro Acosta he had to settle for fifth place, proving himself to be on another level compared to his brand mates and all the non-Ducatis on the grid. Good result on the Italian front also for Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio, 6th and 7th.

At the end of the Italian GP, Martin still leads the overall standings in the World Championship with an advantage of 18 points over Bagnaia, 35 over Marquez, 57 over Bastianini, 70 over Acosta, 71 over Viñales, 86 over Binder, 89 over Aleix Espargarò and 97 over Di Giannantonio.
