MotoGP market, Marquez: “I wanted this situation” – News

by VALERIO BARRETTA

Marquez in the center of the market

Everyone wants Marc Marquez, but Marc Marquez is not for everyone. The eight-time world champion has set very specific limits for the choice of the team with which he will race in 2025: it must be a “factory” team, and therefore with a bike updated to the latest evolution, with structures that the satellite teams do not have. The Pramac hypothesis, for these reasons, is not taken into consideration by the Spaniard, who now has three options: KTM and Aprilia are certainly there (as long as they are in the official teams, if he wants to live up to his words); the third is Ducati, it remains to be seen whether in “red” or Gresini, it depends on the Borgo Panigale company’s decision on the rider line-up for 2025, expected in the next few days.

Marquez’s words

Marquez himself commented on the market events in which he is involved: “I looked for this situation, and that’s why I signed for a year with Gresini: I believe in myself and if in the end you get performance other options will open up to you. Luckily for me, I have several options, but I certainly have some priorities and the people who need to know know how comfortable I would be in this situation. The relationship with Luigi Dall’Igna has been super positive since 2018, it has always been very frank“.

The eight-time world champion then focused on yesterday’s fifth place which earned him a return to Q2: “It must be normal to get there in the future. It’s true that we’re struggling at the moment, in practice we changed the strategy a bit to better prepare the time attacks: the pace is good, like that of the last few races, but the difference is that on the flying lap I’m a bit closer also if not yet enough“, he continued. “Pecco is currently the strongest both in terms of pace and flying lap, he is the favourite. The goal is the podium and it will be difficult to achieveconsidering how there are especially Martin and Acosta who are very fast“.

I’m having fun. Never in my career had I celebrated a third place, like at Montmeló, but this arm injury has slightly changed the perspective with which I approach races and life. I have fun and enjoy the good moments with the team and with the bike. Then, of course, if you win the World Cup it’s something really special, but there are always good moments. And for me it’s a second life“.
