Closing with a bang for Italy ai 2024 World Youth Weightlifting Championships, currently taking place in Lima (Peru). In fact, on the penultimate day of the event a historic result arrived for the Italian Olympic weightlifting movement, with Sara Dal Bò who triumphed in the -81 kg category becoming the first Italian woman to win an Under 17 world title.

The child prodigy born in 2009 of the Pordenone Weightlifting team therefore continues to forge ahead and set record after record of precociousness, after having established herself last year as the youngest absolute national champion ever in the Bel Paese. The fourteen-year-old from Friuli (she will celebrate her 15th birthday tomorrow) has therefore achieved one of the most important goals of her season, winning gold at the Youth World Championships at the end of a very tight competition.

After specialty bronze in the snatch with 90 kg, Dal Bò had to recover four points from his Venezuelan peer Lidysmar Aparicio Alfonzo (94 kg). The emerging star of our local weight lifting then surpassed herself in the momentum exercise, overtaking her South American rival (112 kg) thanks to a final lift of 117 kg valid for the new national junior, U17 and U15 records.

The Kazakh born in 2007 Saniya Ormanbayeva subsequently tried everything to reverse the situation, but her two attempts at 119 kg failed, certifying the success of Sara Dal Bò in the specialty ranking and above all in the total with 207 kg (Italian junior record, U17 and U15) immediately ahead of the Venezuelan Aparicio Alfonzo (206 kg). Third Ormanbayeva with 201 kg.
