TREVISO – The construction path of Treviso Basketball 2023-24 is still in its infancy. One of the first crossroads could concern the captain Alessandro Zanelli. The two-year contract signed in the summer of two years ago, upon his return to the Marca, is expiring and, with the end of the competitive season, the point guard finds himself free from constraints. The parties will necessarily have to negotiate a renewal of the agreement. In the meantime, however, other clubs would also be interested in the 32-year-old from Motta. First of all, from Cremona, looking for an Italian director to take over from Davide Denegri, who is now certain in Tortona, after a super debut season in the top league with 12.4 points, 37.4% from three and 3 assists on average. Scafati would also have received information on the situation and Udine could enter the race in the event of promotion. Now it’s a question of understanding whether the club, also based on the technical choices dictated by the coach, will intend to repel all the attacks. Just as it is equally obvious that Zanelli and his agents will have to evaluate all the opportunities: the player has repeatedly reiterated the satisfaction and pride of having returned, after a career around the Peninsula, to the province where he was born and to the city in where he made his debut in top basketball, but we know that the entanglements of the professional market do not always coincide with personal aspirations. As for the new arrivals, two names have been linked to Nutribullet, albeit in another role, that of wing guard: Giovanni Veronesi and Tomas Woldetensae. For both, however, at least at present, it seems to be just “rumors”, without any real outline of negotiations on the Treviso side. The second is leaving Varese, where in the last season he saw his playing time drastically drop, and from Brianza there is again talk of a possible arrival in the blue and white, after the rumors of recent months (even then which remained without concrete confirmation). Sassari seems to be strong on Veronesi, fresh from an excellent year in A2 with Piacenza and for some time one of the most serious candidates to move up in category among the wingers.

THE OTHERS

Sassari would also have presented an offer to former TVB Michal Sokolowski. The MVP of the Italian Cup is one of the prized pieces of the market: Napoli, as explained by manager Pedro Llompart, would like to keep him and, after a first rejected proposal, would have submitted a second upward one. But for the Polish there is also competition from Tofas Bursa and Bilbao. Meanwhile, the Neapolitans have made their first purchase of the new season official: guard Zach Copeland, already the protagonist of the promotion from Pistoia’s A2 two seasons ago and in the last championship with the Germans Bamberg. Reyer, as she prepares for the playoff semi-finals, would be one step away from completing a two-year contract with Carl Wheatle, a winger born in London but trained in Italy, among the strong points of the surprising Estra Pistoia. Cremona would aim for Federico Poser, another former player from Treviso, so far in Turin, in addition or as an alternative to Paul Eboua, who would have already been optioned by Milan, but who Olimpia could leave for another season in Stradivari’s homeland. Armani, among the wingers, would also have Leandro Bolmaro, an Italian-Argentinian from Bayern Munich, in his sights.
