Technical guide to Matteo De Cecco: «Grateful for the trust»

In the 2024-2025 season, the technical guide of Belluno Volleyball will be hired by Matteo De Cecco. After a year spent as assistant coach, the Dolomite club has decided to entrust the Friulian coach with the helm of the first team, involved in the Serie A3 Credem Banca championship.

WISH – «I thank the president Sandro Da Rold and the entire board of directors for their trust – these are the words of the coach originally from Majano -. Obviously I know the place well, as well as the club’s ambitions. We will work hard to satisfy the desire of the entire city: to be protagonists in a championship which, we know, is complicated. But the enthusiasm is there and there is no shortage of ingredients to achieve important results. The Rose? It is a “work in progress”: sporting director Alessandro Carniel is working to complete it.”

INTERMEDIATE OBJECTIVES – We start again from a good base: «I am satisfied with the path taken so far – continues De Cecco – but now it is necessary to do something more. We will have to think in steps and set ourselves intermediate objectives: starting with qualifying for the Italian Cup and, following, in the A3 playoffs. It’s the minimum wage. People expect a lot from us, we are aware of it. And we are the first to have high expectations. Also because we can count on a structured society, which does not only intend to repeat itself, but to improve itself.”

SLOVENIA – This too, for De Cecco, will be a summer – as well as a late spring – to be experienced in the gym, as technical assistant of the Slovenian national team: «I have been on retreat in Ljubljana for almost two weeks. On Sunday we will leave for Antalya, where we will be involved in the first pool of the Volleyball Nations League. And we will deal with Turkey, France, Poland, Holland, the United States and Canada: the objective? To do well. Which means maintaining the gap in the ranking with the teams chasing us and trying to get to the finals. Then we will be in Japan and finally “at home”, at the Arena Stozice to play for the Olympic qualification.” The Slovenian adventure will not impact the Belluno preparation: «No, the program is very different compared to a year ago – concludes the coach -. There will be time to work calmly and properly, right from the start.”

De Cecco is on the bridge, therefore. Ready to set sail towards new horizons.
