Biella Rugby is happy to announce the confirmation of head coach Alberto Benettin at the helm of the first team for the next two seasons. Arriving in Biella in 2019, the utility back grew up in the youth team of Petrarca Padova until he took off towards the Celtic League as a permit for the Treviso franchise, a cap with the senior national team and many others with the national Under 20 team, in the role of coach, awarded to him by Brc starting from the 2022/2023 season, he convinced everyone by dragging the first XV to conquer the A1, access achieved with the confirmation of the second position in Group 1 of the men’s Serie A Championship.

These are the words of Alberto Benettin a few days after signing which made his stay in the yellow-green official: “I decided to stay in Biella for many reasons: first of all Biella Rugby is a serious and reliable club with which I spent five years and I’ve always had a great time. Great facilities, great club, great group. We are facing the new challenge scheduled for the next championship, in a slightly higher category, and it doesn’t make me feel inspired to stay and face it with the guys who have achieved and achieved this goal with me. I really like this city where I also found ‘the girlfriend’. What to add? I feel great here and I’m happy to stay for another two years.”
Regarding the championship that has just ended and the one that will begin in October: “We completed a very challenging championship, faced many strong teams and really did the best we could in terms of results. We were competitive in every match, even the ones we lost, and expressed great rugby, as demonstrated by the many tries scored. Obviously there is always something to improve and I’m happy to stay, together with many of the guys who played, to raise the bar further. This makes me optimistic also in view of the championship that awaits us. The team is already amalgamated and much of the work can be said to have already been done, but much remains to be done. It will be a championship with ten teams, six already know each other, the other two we will know at the end of the playoffs. We will find Petrarca’s second team, which has been ‘home’ for me for many years, playing against them, playing on that pitch, will be a great emotion for me. One more reason to try to beat them. I started coaching in Serie A, coaching at a slightly higher level, the A1, will be very stimulating. I will do my best”.

Corrado Musso, sports director of Biella Rugby: “We are happy that Alberto has decided to stay with us because we believe in him a lot and are convinced that he is carrying out his task very well, a continually growing path that convinces us more and more. He will retain the double role of coach and player, because if necessary he will return to wearing his playing boots and when he is on the pitch his quality can be seen. Next season will be a more intense and complicated one than the one that has just ended, we will try to give Alberto and the team all the necessary support in the hope that everything goes well.
