Newey’s RB17 will be unveiled at Goodwood: this is how Red Bull prepares its 20th anniversary party

The Miami weekend marked Adrian Newey’s official farewell to the Red Bull Formula 1 department. As is known, the record-breaking engineer is already serving part of the gardening leave period at work to complete the project of the RB17, the first road hypercar from Milton Keynes. A project which, as also said by Christian Horner over the weekend in Florida, represents Newey’s legacy to the brand that he helped build over the last 20 years and which is now close to seeing the light: the first road-going Red Bull will in fact be revealed to the world in mid-July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

THE RB17 ARRIVES

The countdown has already begun, because the long-awaited presentation is scheduled in the Cathedral Paddock, the nerve center of the event organized every year on the Duke of Richmond’s estate, on Friday 12 July 2024. The RB17 will be a two-seater equipped with a carbon monocoque chassis and equipped with a centrally mounted semi-compressed V10 engine and a carbon fiber gearbox. A dream car produced in just 50 examples with absolute level performance and a top speed of over 350 km/h.

RED BULL PARTY

Apart from the presentation of the last work of Newey’s career before his farewell to Red Bull, the 2024 edition of Goodwood will also be an opportunity to celebrate 20 years of the Anglo-Austrian team in Formula 1. In addition to the genius-designer Team principal Chris Horner, former drivers David Coulthard and Patrick Friesacher and many other guests will be present and will be announced later on after the event. There will be no shortage of single-seaters that have marked the team’s journey in F1: Although not yet formally announced, Red Bull speaks of an “unprecedented display of cars from almost every season of the team’s history. Several of these will also take part in the iconic Goodwood hill climb.”

HORNER SPEAKS

“We are thrilled to present the RB17 to the public for the first time – explains team principal Christian Horner – and we couldn’t think of a better world stage than the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The RB17 exudes rarity and engineering excellence. We’ve channeled everything we know about racing to create the best performance car, and we can’t wait for the public to see the result. I’m equally thrilled to be bringing such an amazing selection of cars and drivers to the festival and look forward to celebrating our 20th season in front of so many passionate motorsport fans.”
