George Russell doesn’t have too many reasons to celebrate at the end of the Miami Grand Prix, sixth round of the 2024 Formula One World Championship. On the Florida track, in fact, the representative of the Mercedes team did not go beyond eighth position, with a W15 which, despite the updates, certainly did not shine.

Success went to Lando Norris (the first of his career) with a margin of 7.6 seconds over Max Verstappen, then Charles Leclerc third at 9.9 at the end of a solid race. Carlos Sainz was fourth at 11.4, fifth was a dull Sergio Perez at 14.6 while Lewis Hamilton was sixth at 16.5 after an extremely tough race. Yuki Tsunoda, George Russell, Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon complete the top 10.

After crossing the finish line at the Miami International Autodrome, the English driver analyzed his race: “I made a good start then Perez went out in turn 1 and my Sunday got complicated. It was a tough day for us. We didn’t have the pace we expected at all. We have to analyze the car because something was wrong.”

“We had no rhythm at allgoes onMy race pace is usually strong, but Lewis was better today. I do not. We are very far from where we want to be. There will be work to do. Lando Norris? I’m happy to see him finally win a race. He had come close other times, today everything went right for him.”
