The Liberation Grand Prixorganized for the fourth year by Claudio Terenzi’s team, had its day today epilogue in style with the three youth races. Not before, however, having populated the Caracalla circuit yesterday with cyclists and runners.

The three days in the heart of the capital saw a total of approximately 2,000 participantsi, among athletes, fans and staff, a great party for all tastes and ages. It opened on April 25th, in the presence of first-rate authorities, with the two key races, in which the Italian Chiara Consonni had crowned a UAE domination by achieving the first seasonal success in the Olympic year and the Under 23 first year Davide Donati had finalized a super performance for himself and for the Biesse Carrera. But also with the Bike 4 Funwhich had brought hundreds of enthusiasts to pedal in complete tranquility in the heart of Rome, enjoying the same circuit as the competitors and contributing to the cause of organ donation in support of ANED and AIDO.

Then Friday the 26th we said. There “Urbis et Orbis Cup” also valid as a Lazio Master championship, its protagonists were the great duelists Rossano Mauti and Marco Bernardinetti, with the success of the latter at the end of a race conducted at a frenetic pace. Once the numerous winners of all categories were rewarded, an appointment began absolutely unprecedented for the Liberation: the race running organized in collaboration with Appia Run, ten dream kilometers with the successes of Dario Mafrica among the men and Chiara Collatina among the women.

Finally, today’s conclusion. The Junior Liberation Knight, so called due to a sponsorship strongly desired by Clemente Cavaliere (owner of the CPS team) also as a promotion of cycling in the Centre-South, saw the home team particularly active. Claudio Terenzi’s Veleka, in fact, has shown that it particularly cares about this appointment, with the super-combative Emanuele Rocchi to start a flight that, like an avalanche, started out small and swelled to over twenty units. On the third to last lap Matteo Gabelloni (Casano) attacked and nursed dreams of glory, however in the very last corners he was caught up by the group again driven by the Veleka team, this time with the Australian Alex Eaves. The contest was then decided by the powerful sprint dominated by Santiago Ferraro (Work Service Coratti) who preceded Michele Bonometti (Ecotek), the same Gabelloni and Eaves and the rest to follow.

Success with a particular flavor for Ferraro, that is of Cerveteri and at the beginning of the week he had won the Garibaldina in Mentana: “An enormous satisfaction to raise my arms to the sky of Rome in a dream setting – he said beaming on the podium -. I didn’t expect to hit the big target, but I tried from the beginning and, when I found myself with the best on the finishing straight, I felt I had the leg and I pushed at full throttle!”

Demanding not because of the difference in altitude but because of the indecipherability of the ups and downs and the plan, as confirmed by the Italian Junior coach Dino Salvoldi present on site, underlining the mix of technical and historical aspects that makes the Liberazione truly unique, the Caracalla circuit lit fireworks as well on DPiù Pupil Liberation: first Meloni and Rossetto tried, then Achille Bellato, at the bell of the last lap the compact group passed but, in the bends between Mura Aureliane and Piramide Cestia, Mattia Chinellato (Environmental Logistics) and Filippo Colella (Biassono) with the latter prevailing in the two-man sprint. Behind them, Luciano Gaggioli (Valdinievole) took the lead to complete the podium.

The Allievi race, as well as the following one Co.Re.Ma 3 Beginners’ Liberation, they were also valid as the 5th stage of the Cycling GP Yesterday Today Tomorrow of the Lazio Cycling Federation. The attempts to escape from the peloton in the initial part gave way halfway through the race to the action of three boys who collaborated perfectly and went on to share the three medals: Andrea Fiacco (Coratti), Laerte Scappini (Empolese) and Nicolò Montanaro (Fusion Bike). At the end of the day, Montanaro launched the sprint but Fiacco pulled off the winning comeback: sixth victory in a month for the Ciociaro, who after the Brianza interlude signed by Colella in the previous category, brought home another Lazio victory and continued the virtuous tradition of the Coratti team in the Capitoline region.

Between 1st year the 12th placed Gabriele Leo of Cambike was the winner, while Il Pirata Vangi dominated among the womenwith Alessandra Vuolo winning among the Students and Livia Rossi among the Rookies.

As a corollary to the entire event, the race was also staged in the race village Fitness Faira series of pilates, total body, yoga, boxing and assorted dance initiatives open to all to give an even more varied and complete touch to the GP Liberazione.

An event which, as per the purpose and commitment of the Councilor for Major Events, Sport and Fashion of Rome Capital Alessandro Onoratois putting Rome more and more at the center of cycling.

The winners of the Women’s and Under 23 races on April 25th and today’s Juniors, Students and Debutants wore the evocative jerseys made by Giesse Cycling by Giulio Di Nicola.
