Roma’s second consecutive scudetto arrived without having to take the field. The certainty of the tricolor on the Giallorossi shirts came from Biella, with the defeat (0-2) of Juventus, beaten by Inter, a result that makes Alessandro Spugna’s girls unattainable in first place in the standings (with still four days to go of the Poule scudetto). There were few doubts, now there is also arithmetic to reward the team that dominated the season, despite having failed to get their first match point on the Fiorentina pitch in the last round. The bottles remained in the fridge, only to be uncorked this evening.

Of the 22 matches played so far in Serie A, Roma have lost only one, on 20 January in Milan against Inter, in the only complicated month experienced by the Giallorossi (between the defeat in the Super Cup in Cremona – against Juve – and elimination from the Champions League group at the hands of Ajax). For the rest, an unstoppable march of a team strengthened in the summer with international level additions of the caliber of Kumagai, Feiersinger and Viens and further retouched in the winter with the young Swiss striker Pilgrim (who will also be useful in the coming years) and the winger Sonstevold, to cover Aigbogun’s injury. The difficulties of Juventus (who ended the relationship with Montemurro during the current championship), Fiorentina and Inter were too discontinuous and Milan even crashed into Poule salvation have made Roma’s triumphant march alone. With one last objective to achieve: the Italian Cup, which will be awarded on Friday 24 May in the final in Cesena against Fiorentina. Roma will now return to the field on Wednesday 1st May in Sassuolo, but will do so lightly and with an even more tricolor sewn on their chest.
