Albaredo, the day after the Fly Emotion tragedy the town asks itself questions

The day after the tragedy, the community of Albaredo per San Marco is still in shock. Disbelief and shock at the absurd death of Ghizlane Mouthair, a 41-year-old of Moroccan origins who yesterday fell into the void during a flight with the Fly Emotion aerocable. The small Orobic village, which hosts the headquarters of Fly Emotion and which in all these years has always seen the attractions linked to flying as a great opportunity for local and local tourism, this time ended up in the center of the news due to the fatal accident which took place on one of the three adrenaline-pumping routes. The deputy mayor of Albaredo, Antonella Furlini, cannot understand what happened. “I can only say that obviously we are sorry for what happened, especially for the victim and his family.” Fly Emotion was inaugurated in 2011 with Aerofune, the zipline flying over the Bitto Valley, with a route that connects Albaredo to San Marco with Bema. Then two other adrenaline-pumping attractions were introduced in Albaredo, the Fly Down and the Rail Zip. In all these years there have never been any problems. «Out of over 200 thousand flights made in these 13 years there has never been any problem, no accident or failure – reiterated Furlini -. This is the established fact.” The country is shaken, but to express judgements, we must wait for the outcome of the investigations: «After all these years, a fact of this type is truly shocking – continued Furlini -. We can’t really explain how this could have happened. We are dismayed. The Fly Emotion aerial ropeway is a private facility, we are shocked by the loss and the impact this incident may have on the town and community. Albaredo is a small village, news like this is even more impactful. Now we will see what the investigations establish.” According to the deputy mayor of Albaredo, those who have experienced the thrill of flying with this system have faced this experience without fear: “I don’t know that anyone who has attempted these routes has been afraid, but I can’t say for sure.” However, the managers of some commercial businesses we contacted did not leave any statements on the episode. The dramatic accident could in fact also cause serious economic repercussions if the plant remains closed for some time. The commercial realities of the two small Orobic countries are therefore also directly interested in the developments of the investigations.
