An infinite calendar

This is the season of Formula 1 longest in history, which climbs up 24 grand prix to which are added 6 sprint races. This format has already been confirmed for 2025, well in advance of the traditional summer publication of the calendar for the following year.

In the recent press conference in Shanghai, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris had shown all their skepticism about the hypothesis of further increasing the Sprints and had focused on the tiredness not so much of the drivers, but more of the mechanics and engineers forced to travel for nine months.

Domenicali’s reply

Asked about the number of races on the calendar from Sky Sports UKthe president of Formula 1 Stefano Domenicali it was quite clear: “24 is an optimal figure. I talk to the drivers and it is not mandatory to race in Formula 1. I mean, it’s a question of respect for the fans. They want to see them run and us we have a responsibility to fans, partners, promoters and sport. The magic of this sport is that we need heroes who have fun and I’m sure that’s the case. And the early announcement of the calendar was made to allow everyone to prepare well in advance and we are gradually regionalizing the calendar.”
