The test between Wales and Georgia could be played… but later

As made official a few days ago, the possible match between Wales and Georgia cannot be played in 2024: this is because the Welsh national team had already occupied all 3 dates available for the November international window. As reported by the Daily Mail and WalesOnline, however, the challenge could still be played in 2025.

The possibility of playing as early as November 2nd had been feared, but the match would have been distorted by so many absences in both teams, which would have had to do without players who do not play in their home country.

Wales, in fact, would not have had captain Dafydd Jenkins available, as well as Tommy Reffell, Will Rowlands, Nick Tompkins and Christ Tshiunza. Georgia would have had to give up everyone who plays in France like Davit Niniashvili, Beka Gorgadze and Vasil Lobzhanidze.

As reported by the Daily Mail, however, the challenge may have “only” been postponed. The British newspaper has in fact spoken about the possibility of including Georgia among the opponents of the 2025 summer tour of Wales.

Wales, in fact, would be organizing a match against Japan in Asia, but before this they would have the space to fly to Tbilisi to face Georgia. The Daily Mail’s indiscretion was then also reported by WalesOnline.
