Balance on the pitch and no goals: Palermo-Parma ends 0-0. And now, tomorrow all eyes are on Catanzaro and Lecco
Descriptive text here

Balance: one half for each side in terms of ball possession and offensive proposal (the first against Palermo, the second against Parma) but a lot of balance on the pitch. No goals and the match ends 0-0: the two big names in the cadet championship lacked the winning streak. However, there was no shortage of opportunities for both teams. Perhaps the stakes were more important for Parma, the rosanero had secured their playoff spot and the ambitions of direct promotion were science fiction. For the Crusaders there is a direct promotion at stake. But the important thing was not to make mistakes for the boys from Pecchia: and so it was. Second half perhaps a little more lively than the first, with a toned Parma right from the start, but Palermo after a couple of shivers appeared dangerous up front: the rosanero are not a team that stands by and watches. He regains his balance, with a yellow-blue burst midway through the half. And here too Palermo makes it clear that they are not spectators. He regains his balance and tiredness and a bit of fear of making mistakes lead the match to the end. And now, all eyes on Lecco-Venice and Catanzaro-Cremonese tomorrow at 4.15pm. Como plays at 2pm in Salò.

Teams on the field. Charpentier on the pitch, Cyprien comes out. Parma super offensive with the Frenchman, plus Benek, Man and Mihaila. No changes

Equilibrium. Lots of balance in the first half. If in the first part Palermo at times had more consistency going forward, in the end Parma “morally” re-established this gap by stationing themselves dangerously in the Rosanero half of the pitch. I’ll start with the two teams very close together, high pressing from the yellow-blues and fragmented play: fouls and offsides will be a constant in the first half of the half. But the game, it must be said, is not tough. Forward dominance of the rosanero. The match didn’t take off until the 20th minute when there was an opportunity for each side. The spark to set the match on fire. But the flame lasts less than ten minutes. Palermo goes back forward, the Crociati miss a few too many passes. Another flare-up: Mancuso finds Chichizola ready with a super save. Change of front and this time it’s Pigliacelli who imitates his colleague with two super interventions. This time, in the final, Parma lights up but doesn’t find the winning shot.

49′ Ball again in the corner but the referee sends everyone to the changing rooms

48′ Cross inside, Delprato heads but Nedelceanu’s deflection is decisive. Pigliacelli deflects: corner

47′ Osorio resists a tackle, finds the cross for Man out of the way, the Romanian tries a difficult header: high ball

3′ of added time

44′ Parma under pressure, Palermo have difficulty exiting the area

43′ Diakité is booked

42′ The two occasions have ignited Parma who are now moving forward with conviction

40′ Delprato in the area, out of the way, kicks with power, Pigliacelli repeats a super save

39′ Di Chiara recovers a ball on the edge on a slide. He doesn’t think about it for a moment and shoots towards the goal, the ball is deflected, Pigliacelli imitates Chichizola

37′ Osorio is booked (he wasn’t booked)

35′ Di Francesco wedges himself into the area, finds the cross for Mancuso: as he falls he manages to hit the ball which takes a strange trajectory towards the goal. Chichizola dives and pushes her away

33′ Di Mariano comes out on a stretcher with his hands on his face. In his place inside Buttaro

31′ Di Mariano and Estevez remain on the ground. The Gialloblù gets back up, the Rosanero doesn’t

30′ Di Mariano accelerates, clash with Estevez and Di Francesco takes the ball. But he is walled up

30′ The match has resumed a calmer pace

27′ Palermo comes forward again with consistency. The yellow-blues lose another ball in midfield. Di Mariano starts and from afar finds a cross shot that goes out

25′ The two occasions ignited the pace of the match: the ball turns faster

21′ After a few minutes in which Palermo was present in the yellow-blue area, Parma comes out and receives a free kick from the edge (right corner of the area). Touch for Bernabè who finds a powerful shot on the turn. Nedelcearu rejects

19′ First opportunity badly exploited by Palermo. Brunori delivers a ball from the left to the opposite side. Di Mariano is alone, he chooses the acrobatic half overhead kick. Ball to the stars

17′ Another foul, another break: Cyprien on the ground

16′ Parma in trouble, Brunori misses a pass and Cyprien takes advantage, but the Frenchman also makes a mistake and throws it from Mariano. Circati saves himself in the corner

15′ First 15 minutes, the match doesn’t take off: there’s a lot of balance on the pitch

13′ Yet another free kick: foul by Benek on Pigliacelli

12′ Another foul (even if the game isn’t tough). Henderson clotheslines Benek

11′ Di Francesco sprints down the left wing, low cross, Osorio clears for a lateral foul

8′ Game fragmented between fouls and offside

7′ Lunge by Mihaila but Henderson covers him perfectly. The Romanian doesn’t find space to kick and takes the ball to the back

6′ Parma maneuver and high pressing. We play in midfield.

2′ Incredible refereeing oversight corrected after a prodigious save, however, by Chichizola. Mancuso, served clearly offside, finds himself face to face with the Crociati goalkeeper who blocks his touch. After the action continued, some time later, the flag went up.

1′ Parma attacks from left to right with a yellow and blue shirt with horizontal stripes. Palermo in black uniform

The match begins with 1′ of contemplation for the passing of Matteo Giani, 26 years old, striker of Castelfiorentino United in Eccellenza Toscana

Tense moments outside the Barbera stadium where the Palermo and Parma teams are entering the field. Around 200 hooded Palermo fans threw bottles at the police between via Croce Rossa and via del Carabiniere. A car was set on fire. There is a large deployment of police forces who are trying to thwart the fans.
According to an initial reconstruction, the Rosanero ultras would have attempted to force the blockade of the police to enter the away sector where, together with the Parma supporters, there would also be some fans of Catania, the home team’s historic rival.

242 fans arrived from Parma at the Barbera in Palermo. Actually 243 given that president Kyle Krause also joined the team in the afternoon.

The presentation of the match

From here until the end the theme will be the same, it won’t be easy or even obvious, especially in a treacherous match like today’s in Palermo: but Parma is chasing the match point. Those points that would allow Pecchia’s boys to see the finish line, those points that would allow the Crociati to see the goal, to play the decisive match for promotion to Serie A. Much will also depend on the progress of Venezia, first and foremost, and Cremonese . So, once Palermo-Parma is over, all that will remain is to watch Catanzaro-Cremonese and Lecco-Venice tomorrow. Today’s Parma match, as mentioned, is full of pitfalls. It is played in one of the hottest areas in Italy, as fans in this case, the first leg at the Tardini ended 3-3. But Parma were behind for 90′, grabbing the (well-deserved) equalizer in 5′, first with a torpedo from Mihaila, then with Charpentier at the last gasp. The Rosanero are in full swing (practically already conquered) for the playoffs, and they are a team that hopes for it in Serie A.
