BEE RUGBY RIETI IS BORN

by Sergio Grillo – A bow of joy with chromatic shades, pink and blue, which winks at the future for Rieti rugby. A new club comes to enrich the world of oval ball. “Bee Rugby Rieti” takes to the field, characterized by the strength and solidity of 50 members, determined to play a very specific role: to take up the baton of the pioneers of this sport in an ideal fascinating relay. A project which will therefore see the “historic” group, founded in the Sabine land in the 60s and grown in the 70s/80s, committed to passing on values and teachings to the young people of that period, who have now become the operational nucleus of “Bee Rugby Rieti”. The name, conceived starting from the concept of builder bees, cohesive and industrious in carrying out this new Rieti rugby project, is enriched in its pronunciation by an Anglophone pun: “Be Rugby” aimed at young people so that they can nourish themselves with the founding values of this sport to the point of being “Rugby” themselves, thus surpassing the already noble concept of rugby player. Another new element will be the club colours: pink and blue, bright and modern, selected in order to maintain a connection with our history (the amaranth-light blue), while aiming decisively at innovation and the world of youth.

The main objective of this handover will be to spread the spirit of the “oval” sport to the children of Rieti, starting from the youngest ones, also involving their parents. “Our work – he explains Nicola Iacoboni vice president and administrative manager – will be to not lose the wealth of values that characterize our sporting discipline which go beyond the charm and rules of the game. It will be our responsibility to collect the legacy of those who preceded us in the history of Rieti rugby – continues Iacoboni – giving substance to the principles of our sport. For this reason we will open the doors to people with disabilities and young people who want to learn about rugby.” “Bee Rugby Rieti” wants to keep alive some principles characterizing the oval ball sport such as the ability to support, support and qualify the players’ conduct both within the playing field and in the social sphere. “In Rome – explains Iacoboni – we have already opened a partnership with Special Olympics to launch Tag Rugby which, shortly, we will also spread in our province. Furthermore, I would like to point out that we are not in conflict with the activity carried out by the Arieti. Our objective will be to create groups of “mini rugby players” capable of participating in all categories of the youth sector. A final reflection on the ability to form a management team that is up to the tasks set. “We have received the membership of 50 members – concludes Iacoboni – but other memberships are expected for the next meeting. Let’s start with a heterogeneous board of directors, made up of a group of friends intent on spreading the uniqueness of the “oval” sport.
