Stefano Bollani is the protagonist of the first edition of the Riccione spring concert, scheduled for tomorrow (at 9pm) at the Palacongressi. During the live Piano solo there will also be an unscheduled performance with his wife, Valentina Cenni from Riccione. Fresh from the success of the Via dei matti numero zero program on Raitre, they will give the public a mix of music, emotions and hilarity.
What kind of concert awaits us tomorrow night?
“I’ll make the set list in the afternoon, but it could change when I’m on stage. I’ll go by sensations. I’ll certainly propose some of my own pieces and also, since I like to pay homage to the musicians who trained me, a tribute to Nino Rota. At the end of the concert, as always, I will ask the audience what they would have liked to hear and I will do a medley. Valentina will also be on stage: she will do a few pieces with me”.
Will the piano accompany his voice?
“Only the piano. There is always new music to come out of this instrument. The piano is a cauldron of a million possibilities, it’s stimulating, you can do anything with it.”
Bollani, if you were to try to define it in a few words: what is music for you?
“It’s many things. It’s the language that flies higher than words and is not misunderstandable… Music has allowed me to travel a lot, communicating with people who have different backgrounds and cultures from mine. By playing together we immediately get in tune , more than talking. I’m very happy to make music, it’s a joy. Getting on stage for me is always very important, beautiful and cathartic.”
Many have followed you on TV: will there be a sequel to Via dei matti numero zer?
“We are very happy and after 150 episodes we would like to do a fourth edition. It’s early to talk about it, but I would like it, because for us it was wonderful to put love into this and to see as much love come back, if not more, from the people who followed. The secret is that Valentina and I bring our passions to TV and only cover what interests us.”
What does Valentina represent for you?
“A constant inspiration, a beacon. We constantly compare ourselves on what we do. After having shot a short film, she is writing a feature film and I will be the author of her music”.
Do you also work on anything else?
“There are many projects, I’m composing a lot. After the date in Riccione, I will take months off from concerts to prepare new things, maybe even a new album”.
