The EUSALP Award. What keeps me here the individual who was able to grasp the spirit that supports the Alpine Macroregion, i.e. issues such as sustainability, inclusion, was assigned to Speedy by Alessandro Anderloni (Italy/2024/70′).

«For the ability, through an innovative construction of the film, to be able to enhance the meaningful and positive aspects of living in the mountains and being in the community also thanks to the importance of cultural initiatives and intergenerational collaboration.

Velo Veronese becomes a symbol of all mountain communities, especially those outside the circuits of mass tourism, which, in the post-covid era, can become objects of interest for quality of life and opportunities for those seeking refuge from the chaos of the city.

The film, according to the jury, has the merit of reliving, without nostalgia, the childhood of those born in small Alpine villages and, for those born in the city, of making them perceive its authenticity with pleasure and a touch of envy. »: this is what the jury wrote, composed of the provincial councilor for housing policies, heritage, state property and promotion of knowledge of Autonomy Simone Marchiori (who will be present in the room for the award ceremony), together with Mauro Casotto, Barbara Centis, Luca Ferrario and Ileana Olivo.

A special mention was awarded to Border Peasants / Grenzbauern by Michele Trentini (Italy/2024/72′) «for having focused attention on one of the typical mountain activities which, even today, represents a fundamental element for the care and valorization of the Alps».

Speedy also gets The San Michele Trentino Ethnographic Museum Award, awarded to the cinematographic work which, with ethno-anthropological documentary rigor, was able to best represent the habits and customs of the mountain people.

In the motivations the jury – composed of Ezio Amistadi, Armando Tomasi and Luca Faoro wrote: «“It’s useless to search, your country remains that of your childhood”: this is the emblematic exergue of Velovelodico, a common thread that underlies the experiences expertly narrated through a profound, intimate dialogue between Anderloni and thirteen voices that intertwine, weaving a veil.

A veil that, thinly, caresses the emotions, the hopes, the experiences forged by life in the mountains that compare the past, present and future”.
