At the same time as the inauguration of the sports facility, the project “SPORTS FOR EVERYONE – Neighborhoods”, an initiative promoted by Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi through the Department of Sport in collaboration with Sport e Salute SpA, the state company for the promotion of sport and correct lifestyles (as per the attached press release).
L’sports offer dedicated to users is the following: tennis, beach volleyball, basketball, golf, 5-a-side football, 7-a-side football, athletics, adapted activities, weight/fitness room, dance and wellness room (pilates, yoga, movin, zumba, couple dancing, contemporary dance, pizzica, country and activities for children, university students, adults and seniors).
There renovation it involved the five-a-side and seven-a-side football pitches, tennis, the extension of the terrace and the athletics track; they were two new rooms built intended for weight/fitness, dance and wellness activities and four new changing rooms. A thermal insulation was also built for the multifunctional gym and the entire masonry part used as changing rooms and offices. Finally, the GTT bus service has recently been upgraded which will facilitate reaching Via Panetti, an upgrade designed in particular for university students.
Present at the inauguration was the President of the Turin University Sports Center Prof. Riccardo D’Elicio, the Vice-Rector for Welfare, Sustainability and Sport of the University of Turin Prof. Alberto Rainoldithe Vice-Rector with responsibility for communication and promotion of the Polytechnic of Turin Prof.ssa Silvia Barbero and the President of the 2nd District of the City of Turin Dr. Luca Rolandi.
These are the words of the President Richard D’Elicio: «We apologize for the delay but we have finally managed, after three years, to give back to the Turin university sports system a one-of-a-kind facility, a multi-sports structure with over 200 thousand visitors a year. Thanks to the engineer Sandro Petruzzi for following the start of the works, believing in sport as a formative element of integration and socialization, and to the architect Battista Tortorella, Director of the Construction and Sustainability Department of the University of Turin, for the continuation and construction of the car park. I am sure that in the near future both the University and the Polytechnic of Turin in collaboration with CUS Turin will continue to qualify the university sports facilities and service. The collaboration with the Mirafiori Foundation is also fundamental for the synergy and redevelopment of the neighborhood, with the involvement of the Cussino plant in via Artom. The next steps will be the construction of three padel courts and two beach volleyball courts in via Milano in Grugliasco, the inauguration with an open day of the Moncalieri swimming pool and the university campus also in Grugliasco».

Finally, in collaboration with the MicroPlus company, a world leader in the sector of recording Olympic and world competitions and in the management and production of analytical data, a video analysis system of basketball matches has been set up to teach the basics of match analysis and underlying artificial intelligence techniques».
