Volleyball: CVA waits, ASP can’t wait any longer

It is a Serie C championship with decidedly different flavors for Civitavecchia volleyball. With six days to go until the end of the regular season, there are those who almost certainly know their fate and there are those who have to avoid a mocking verdict tooth and nail. Let’s start, in order of position in the standings, from the Civitavecchia Volley Academy, which is second in group A.

From a purely competitive point of view, there are few things to say. In fact, the girls directed by Alessio Pignatelli are eight points behind leaders Lazio, incredibly still with full points, and at the same time they are +11 on the third strength of the group, namely Volley Friends. So it’s natural that the orange team’s thoughts may already be on the playoffs, which will be the prerogative of the top three.

Only two defeats for the Tigers, who have a decidedly young group, supported by their “big sisters” Guidozzi and Scarano. Suffice it to say that after them there is De Benedictis, not exactly a veteran, as she was born in 2005. Obtaining the much desired promotion to Serie B2 could be the driving force for the technical growth of the many prospects who have shown themselves under the management Pignatelli.

To date in the group Cva would face Tor di Quinto and Dea Volley, both third in their respective groups, between the second half of May and the beginning of June. Only the first will advance to the final, against the second in the group which currently features Lazio, Frascati and Fenice.

And whoever wants to rise from the Fenice, which will be the next opponent on April 6th, is the 3epc Pallavolo Civitavecchia, which has been in the relegation zone since last weekend. In the space of a month and a half the rossoblu threw away their eight point lead over the Wolves of Mars. Six consecutive defeats for Giovanni Guidozzi’s six plus one, six points in the last three days for the direct competitors.

Belli and his teammates absolutely must play their matches against Roma Volley and Fiumicino, and maybe make a splash against Roma Centro or Green Volley. The Wolves of Mars have neither steamrollers nor sparring partners on their path, but they still have matches where they can get results. Beyond the accounts, the biggest problem at the moment at Asp is that there is resignation to the situation.

The team has shown that it has some cards to play, but it makes far too many mistakes and struggles to find continuity. Fabeni’s early farewell and the ongoing training problems did the rest.
