Also this year Valle d’Aosta will be among the first Italian regions to launch the winter sales 2026. The date to mark on the calendar, especially for shopping enthusiasts, is Friday 2 Januaryone day earlier than in most of the national territory, where the start is set for Saturday 3 January.
The date of 3 January 2026 was established on the basis of the unitary guidelines of the Regions, approved on 24 March 2011, which set the start of end-of-season sales on the first working day before the Epiphany.
They are exceptions, in addition to Aosta Valleyalso theSouth Tyrolwhere the sales will begin onJanuary 8with differentiated calendars at district level.
In Valle d’Aosta the sales will last until March 31, 2026with a ban on promotional sales in the 15 days before the start of the discounts.
On the occasion of the start of the discount season, the Italian Fashion Federation-Confcommercio and Confcommercio Imprese per l’Italia recall some fundamental rules for an informed and transparent purchase.
Exchanges and returns
Changing the product is not mandatory, except in the case of defective or non-compliant items. In the presence of a defect, the consumer has the right to repair or replacement; if not possible, to a price reduction or refund. The defect must be reported within two months of discovery.
Try on garments
There is no obligation to try on the items: the decision is up to the shopkeeper.
Payments
Merchants are required to accept credit cards and encourage electronic payments.
Products on sale
Sale items must be seasonal or fashionable and subject to depreciation if not sold within a certain period.
Price indication
It is mandatory to indicate: the normal sales price, which corresponds to the lowest price applied in the 30 days before the start of the sales (as required by Legislative Decree 26/2023); the discount percentage and the final price.
