Transport and school at risk of chaos tomorrow, March 8, due to the general strike of all public and private categories. Bus, tram and subway lines may suffer slowdowns, delays, cancellations of trips and even the closure of some services. The 24-hour stop was called by the trade union organizations Cub, Cobas, Si Cobas, Slai Cobas, Sgb, Usb and Us. The motivation, in connection with International Women’s Day, concerns “the worsening of the general living conditions of women starting from the working condition in our country, which affects all other areas: social, family, cultural”.

LAZIO

In Rome, the agitation will affect the Atac network, the peripheral buses managed by Rome Tpl and Cotral. Therefore, in compliance with the guarantee bands established by law, transport will be insured from the start of service at 8.30 and then from 17 to 20. Possible stops or interruptions of journeys for buses (including peripheral ones), trams, undergrounds and for the Termini-Centocelle railway may instead occur from 8:30 to 17 and from 20 at the end of the service. The Metromare and Roma Nord railways, managed by the regional company Cotral, will travel regularly.

The strike will also affect the connections made on behalf of Atac by other operators under subcontracting arrangements. As regards the night service, in the night between tomorrow and Wednesday the service of the night bus lines will not be guaranteed (lines whose name begins with “n”), while the service of the daytime lines will be guaranteed which have trips scheduled after midnight and that of the night runs of the Atac lines 38, 44, 61, 86, 170, 246, 301, 451, 664, 881, 916, 980 and the Rome Tpl lines 314, 404, 444.

Conversely, during the night between Wednesday and Thursday, the service of the “n” bus lines will be guaranteed, while that of the daytime lines that have scheduled trips after midnight and the night trips of the Atac lines 38, 44, 61, 86, 170 will not be guaranteed , 246, 301, 451, 664, 881, 916, 980 and the Roma Tpl lines 314, 404, 444.

LOMBARDY

In Lombardy, the circulation of regional and suburban trains and the Malpensa Express airport connection may be subject to limitations and cancellations. The trains indicated in the list of guaranteed journeys will run during the times 6-9 and 18-21. In particular, on the evening of Tuesday 7, trains will travel with departure scheduled by 9 pm and arrival at the final destination by 10 pm.

On Wednesday 8 March trains will travel in the morning that depart from the station of origin after 6 and arrive at their final destination by 9; trains departing after 6 pm will run in the afternoon.

As regards the airport connection, replacement buses will be provided, without intermediate stops, for any journeys not made between Milan Cadorna and Malpensa Airport – from Milan the buses will leave from Via Paleocapa, 1 – and between Stabio and Malpensa Airport.

Real-time information on traffic will be available on the pages of each line of the App and on the Trenord website. Passengers are advised to pay attention to audible announcements and station monitors.

Trenitalia’s Frecce and Intercity trains will operate regularly on the occasion of the strike by the staff of the FS Italiane Group proclaimed by some independent trade unions, in support of a general strike, from 9pm on Tuesday 7 to 9pm on Wednesday 8 March. Trenitalia undertakes to ensure almost all connections, with possible slight changes to the regional train schedule. Guaranteed the essential services foreseen in the event of a strike on weekdays from 6 to 9 and from 18 to 21.
