Manor Lords: The creator asks for your help in changing the supply and demand system
Descriptive text here

The creator of Manor Lords – Greg Styczeń – is asking his players for help. Precisely, he wants to know what you think of the supply and demand system within the video game and of how to evolve it in the future.

You have to know that Manor Lords initially it allowed a certain ease to focus on the production of a single good (sheep, in particular) and earn an enormous amount of money. The public criticized this and so the creator inserted a system that prevents you from selling or buying too much of a certain product. In practice, if too many units of a certain product are sold, its value drops until it is no longer possible to trade it. However, if you buy too much of a certain good, the price rises until it is no longer sustainable.

This forces you to avoid focusing too much and pushes to create settlements capable of producing many types of products. The problem is that the creator of Manor Lords is not convinced of the system.

The words of the creator of Manor Lords

In Manor Lords we fight, it’s not just about economics

Styczeń stated: “I have never been sure, as I believe that the specialization of regions in the production of certain goods is the way the game should be played. There are other possible ways to ensure that players have what to spend their fortunes on in future versions of the game. But of course there’s a risk that players won’t have to build production chains at all if they can import everything without any consequences, perhaps without having to interact with some game mechanics.”

On the Discord channel Styczeń has therefore asked the players self:

  • A) Keep the system as it is
  • B) Don’t eliminate it but modify it to make it less impactful
  • C) Eliminate it

For now “B” wins with 12,000 votes, while “A” has only 2,000 and “C” is certainly excluded with 415 votes. We’ll see how things go.
